Psalm 42 says, (1) As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. (2) My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
Many of us have heard of or read this passage. Today I want to pause and consider it. I have often wondered what I "pant" for? Do I pant for God? Does my soul thirst for God? Does your soul thirst for Him? Do you long to read His Word, spend time in prayer, or to tell others about Him?
I must admit that lately, we have been so busy that I have pushed God to the back burner. I still pray each day and I am listening to worship music but I am not spending time in the Word reading the Bible as I used to. I know it's an excuse. I have to discipline myself to do those things. I feel bad that I am being convicted. I want to know the Lord and read His Word, but I have let "life" get in the way. I have not 'panted' after God. I am confessing this to you, and to the Lord. I pray now, that He will forgive me. I don't want to be one of those Christians who pulls God out when they need Him. I want Him in my life everyday!
This brings to mind another scripture verse:
Ephesians 3:14-21
(14) For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (15) from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, (16) that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, (17) that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, (18) may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height- (19) to know the Love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you maybe filled with all the fullness of God. (20) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (21) to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
I am grateful that the Lord has granted my all the riches I could stand. The He dwells in my heart. That He will give to me above all that I ask or think. Thank You, Lord!
